It is sometimes difficult to feel completely confident when you are unhappy with your teeth. Dr. Heari and the team of dental professionals at Bells Corners Family Dentistry provide a complete suite of general dentistry as well as restorative and cosmetic procedures to help you achieve the smile you covet.
Teeth are composed of two main parts: the crown which is visible above the gums and the root. The root is located below the gumline and is responsible for securing your tooth firmly in your jawbone. If the crown of your tooth is decayed or fractured, we can restore it using an artificial crown. Artificial crowns come in metal and porcelain options. Porcelain (ceramic) crowns are designed to match the colour of your teeth for a natural look.
When you have a missing tooth you can replace it with an artificial tooth which bridges the gap between missing teeth. Bridges attach to neighboring teeth and can be used to replace more than one missing tooth in the same region of your mouth. Bridges look like your natural teeth and can last for many years with proper care. They help to maintain the shape of the face and control the shifting of adjoining teeth.
Veneers are ultra-thin, porcelain shells which are bonded to the front surfaces of your teeth to create a uniform look. They can be made to match your existing tooth colour or whiter than your natural teeth for a cleaner look. Veneers can be custom-made and permanently bonded to your teeth within two visits to our dental office. Veneers are a durable option to correct discoloured, crooked, and cracked teeth. They resist stains and do not require as much reshaping of your real teeth as crowns do.
If you’ve had decayed teeth in the past and had them filled with mercury alloy (amalgam) fillings you can replace your amalgam fillings with porcelain tooth-coloured fillings. Porcelain/resin restorations are durable and are bonded to the surrounding tooth structure. Because of the porcelain/resin material, light is able to flow through the white resin restoration and reflect off the surrounding teeth, resulting in a more natural-looking smile. If you are considering a crown to replace a damaged tooth, ask Dr. Haeri whether a porcelain restoration could be used instead.
The process of tooth whitening lightens the colour of your teeth. It can be done in two ways –by changing the intrinsic colour or by removing the formation of extrinsic stains. In order to help you whiten your teeth and help you feel more confident about showing off your smile, we offer two types of whitening: in-office or take-home custom trays.
It only takes an hour to brighten your smile. With ZOOM! Whitening, you can get professional-grade teeth whitening in just one visit to the dentist.
Take-Home Custom Trays
After making measurements in office, we provide you with a custom tray which you can take home and apply whitening every night.
